About the Senior Buyer position

We are looking for a competent Senior Buyer to join our team at our busy corporate office in Santa Barbara. Under the general direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer will coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.

The goal is to ensure that the business will always have adequate stock that meets its requirements. That way we can deliver value to our customers through high-quality products and facilitate sustainable growth.

Senior Buyer responsibilities are:

  • Purchase items in these areas: mechanical, optical, electronic assemblies, computers, software, raw materials, lab supplies and services

  • Maintaining a good relationship with suppliers and negotiate Kanban agreements, T's & C's

  • Communicate PO status to Manager and at the daily production stand-up meetings

  • Obtain RMA's from suppliers for defective material

  • Run material shortage report and expedite material as required

Retail Buyer requirements are:

  • 5+ years experience as a Buyer preferably in a high-tech, electronics manufacturing environment with proven negotiation skills with suppliers

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/technical drawings and specifications desired

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, Kanban, Standard Work, 1-piece flow and 5's)

  • Proficient at MS Office & MRP Databases

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of work experience
