What we are looking for
Wyatt Technology is looking for an Intellectual Property Assistant to work under the general supervision of our in-house General Counsel to provide a wide range of administrative, clerical, and document services to support the workflow and company service needs. The ideal candidate will be an organized self-starter who skillfully prioritizes and juggles multiple demands with sound judgement and attention to detail.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with patent prosecution matters by maintaining and updating a database of U.S. and international patent applications and issued patents, filling patent documents in proper places and in the proper order, maintaining a weekly docket reminder list of U.S. and international patent matters due, filing patent documents with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) online or by mail if necessary, preparing information disclosure statements (IDS) for filing with the USPTO.
  • Assist with trademark prosecution matters by maintaining and updating a database of U.S. and international trademark applications and registered trademarks, filing trademark documents in proper places and in the proper order, maintaining a weekly docket reminder list of U.S. and international trademark matters due.
  • Assist with contract matters by maintaining and updating a database of fully-signed contracts, filling fully-signed contracts in proper places and in the proper order.
  • Assist with immigration matters, filling immigration documents in proper places and in the proper order.
  • Work with Finance to pay outside law firm bills.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-10+ years of Patent/Trademark experience desired
  • Working knowledge of general office procedures, as well as, familiarity with legal terminology related to Intellectual Property (IP)
  • 5+ years of experience filing patent documents with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) online
  • 5+ years of experience preparing information disclosure statements (IDS) for filing with the USPTO
  • 5+ years law firm experience/in-house experience at a company/corporation
  • Must be highly organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to proactively anticipate needs with minimal amount of direction
